My goodness, it's IS2023 already!Firstly, I promise I'll be super stoked to see whatever it is you end up creating!

Getting the icky stuff out of the way:

Character bashing. This is my biggie; the complexity of some of these characters is what draws me to them. (I'm A-OK with one character criticising another's actions, or characters arguing or disliking one another, but please no shoehorning of personal dislikes.
Perfect Ainur. Well-intentioned but fallible is fine, but I'm not on board with “they can do no wrong."
Crack fic
2nd person narrator
MPREG (and very explicit pregnancy)
Unrequested kinks (including but not limited to BDSM, scat/waterworks, emetophilia)
A/B/O
24
/7 D/S
Incest (parent/child AND sibling/sibling)

Some ships: Celebrimbor/Annatar, Legolas/Gimli(romantic only - platonic bros is fine), Bagginshield

Generally, my tastebuds sing for
  • Character complexity and conflicting motivations
  • Unusual perspectives, original characters (especially female characters) and textual ghosts
  • Weaving a small tale into the vivid tapestry of Canon
  • Unreliable narrators and quirky narrative structures – for example, epistolary, fragmented narratives, stories told through found documents, framing devices, stories told out of chronological order
  • Philosophical musings
  • Found families/families of choice
  • Grief and tragedy
  • Hope, redemption and reconciliation
  • Exploring the outer edges of the map
  • Genderqueer or other queer aspects of characters, OC or otherwise
  • Well-crafted OCs
  • Developing friendships and budding romances
Kinkwise:
  • Hair brushing/washing/braiding
  • Sex exploring power dynamics and/or deeply informed by characters' history together
  • Neck kissing
  • “Thank god you're alive” sex; sex after serious injury
  • Differing experience levels
  • Enthusiastic consent
  • Reading erotic literature together
I hope there is something of use in all this - if you want to test ideas or ask for clarification, feel free to reach out to me on tumblr or via the swg discord (you can ask a friend for the sake of anonymity)

1.       The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien

  • Worldbuilding: Interspecies Relationships
  • Worldbuilding: Education and/or school systems in Middle-earth
  • Worldbuilding: Ancient flora and fauna magic or otherwise (Silm)
  • Worldbuilding: Early Second Age
  • Worldbuilding: Trade in the Second Age
  • Worldbuilding: Trade in First Age Beleriand (Silm)
  • Worldbuilding: Earth-rites and magic in the First Age
  • Group: Celebrimbor/Narvi (Silm)
  • Group: Celebrimbor & Orodreth (Silm)

  • Group: Original Character/Original Character (Silmarillion)
  • Group: Original Character & Original Character (Silmarillion)
  • Group: Original Green Elves of Ossiriand (Silm)
  • Group: Elemmírë/Findis
  • Caranthir (Silm)
  • Group: Aulë & the Dwarves (Silm)
  • Yavanna (Silm)
This is mostly based on my desire to have more Dwarf fic, and partly because I thought education in Aman/ME sounded like a fun prompt so I've tried to do a bit with that.
Some call Elemmírë a scholar - some Findis, too - so perhaps she is involved either as an educator or a pupil?
How was Celebrimbor's early life shaped outside of possibly working with his father/grandfather?
How was the systems of Aman carried on in those born in ME - or were they abolished for the sake of a Sindar equivalent?
Dwarf educational systems must necessarily focus greatly on their crafts - whatever that means to a single dwarf - but perhaps parallels could be drawn between Azaghâl whose diplomatic skill and friendship with Maedhros led in part to the formation of hte Union, and Nárvi whose friendship(platonic or romantic) with an elf became the stuff of legend?
Speaking of interspecies relationships, both Curufin and Caranthir are also said to have dealings with the stout mountaindwellers - how do they differ... and how are they alike?

  • Worldbuilding: Telerin Kinslayers (Silm)
  • Worldbuilding: Culture at Alqualondë (Silm)
  • Worldbuilding: Valinor during the Darkening
  • Worldbuilding: Survival at Sea (Silmarillion)

  • Group: Olwë & Finarfin (Silm)
  • Group: Olwë & Finwë (Silm)
  • Group: Olwë/Olwë's Wife (Silm)
Ah, Olwë... how I wish there was more about you and your people. Tell me a tale of the Journey, perhaps, or a shanty from the seaside; tell me even a tale of darkness and blood if you please, but bring these characters to brilliant life on the page!

The Hobbit - book
  • Worldbuilding: The Toy-Market of Dale (Hobbit book)
  • Worldbuilding: Dwarves of Erebor after Smaug captured the Mountain (Hobbit book)
  • Worldbuilding: Dwarven politics (Hobbit book)
  • Worldbuilding: Dwarven music & musical instruments (Hobbit book)

  • Dwalin (Hobbit book)
  • Dáin Ironfoot (Hobbit book)
  • Dís (Hobbit book)
  • Frerin (Hobbit book)

My loves, the Durinsons! Their skill and their trials, victories and woes! Sing me a song of these brave folk and their lives before the Quest (I forgot to add Thrór et al to this, but feel free to include the rest of the family ;) )
  • Worldbuilding: Goblin Life
  • Worldbuilding: Goblin History and Communications
  • Worldbuilding: The Economics of Non-Mordorian Goblin Settlements
  • Original Slave of the Goblins Character (Hobbit book)
  • Original Goblin Character (Hobbit book)
The darker penchant to the Hobbits, though equally fond of hiding underground... were they once more alike than might be thought?

The Lord of the Rings - book
  • Worldbuilding: The Origins and History of Ents and Entwives (LOTR books)
  • Worldbuilding: Flora and Fauna (LOTR books)
  • Group: Original Entwife & Original Hobbit (LOTR Books)
  • Group: Entwives (LOTR Books)
  • Group: Entwife/Entwife (LOTR Books)

  • Worldbuilding: Post-war Harad/Gondor relations
  • Worldbuilding: Post-War Umbar/Harad Relations (LOTR books)
  • Worldbuilding: Post-War Minas Tirith (LOTR books)

  • Original Dunlending Character (LOTR books)
  • Original Corsair Character (LOTR books)
  • Original Character from Umbar (LOTR Books)
  • Original character from Rohan (LOTR Books)
Go nuts with the OCs and the headcanons here! I love exploring the blank edges of the map - make me love your characters as you do, canon or otherwise, and bring me a tale from the unexplored wilderness.
Whether that be geographical or not is up to you ;)

  • Worldbuilding: Nature Spirits (Crossover)

  • Group: Ulmo (Silm) & Goldberry (LotR Books)
  • Group: Original Lossoth Character (LOTR Books) & the Great Seal (TFCL)
I call this one either "The Random Grab Bag" or "Why Don't WB tags Float Canons?!?!?" so the characters here are the barest hints of a suggestion as they were the only ones in the crossover section I cared enough about to name. Any other character or group I've requested may just as easily figure with these tags - go wild :D

I hope there was something of use in all this - if you want to test ideas or ask for clarification, feel free to reach out to me on tumblr or via the swg discord (you can ask a friend for the sake of anonymity)

  • Exploring the outer edges of the map

1.       The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien

Original Character(s), Caranthir, Finrod, Maglor, Original Noldorin Character, Finarfin, Any or No Characters, Feänor

WB: Fashion and fabrics in pre-First Age Aman

  •          Colours, cuts, usage; what type of dyes could be found/created – do they get so far as anodyne dyes, or stick with natural pigments?
  •          Weaving, knitting, embroidery, felting – what is used where – and by whom? Are certain fabrics limited to specific classes?
  •          Hats of Elves – Aside from armoured helmets or cowls, you rarely see any Elf depicted with headgear(not counting crowns), why? Do ceremonial hats exist? Who wears a hat, and why? Who invents hats – and what styles are created? – and why?

WB: The Founding of Cities Towns & Villages In Valinor

  •          Some places seem given – a port/fishing city like Alqualondë, for example – but why do towns and cities get founded where we know them to be now; is the agricultural land especially good in Vanyamar, for example, or is the city placed more accurately for religious reasons?
  •          Do some places get founded for other cultural reasons (a la invention of an amphitheatre -> Town of Thespiens)
  •          Do new villages and towns continue to appear, or do the Eldar stick to their familiar clusters? Hereunder also relations between young adults and their parents; do Elves ‘move out’ at a certain age?

WB: Fashion and fabrics in post-Exile Aman

  •          More of a visual thing, I suppose; do we see armour influences from the Noldor smiths who remained in the daily fashions (such as Cersei’s armour dress from GoT, for example) or is anything that might remind of the Kinslaying entirely out. (I also wonder whether any smiths who remained would have dared to craft weaponry or facsimiles thereof in relation to this)

WB: Jewels and Tools

  •          Valuation of items plays in here, given the jewel-strewn beaches of Alqualondë, but I’m also interested in techniques and inventions related to the topic. Aman, Doriath, Belegost/Novgrod, Nargothrond, Eregion, or possibly Lindon; differences and similarities?

2.       The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien

Haleth of the Haladin, Original Noldorin Character, Original Dwarf Character, Lalwen, Thuringwethil, Melian, Original Character(s)

WB: Portals and passageways

  •          I picked this mainly because the tag intrigued me. I saw it and thought of the Halls of Mandos and Mahal(where a Dwarf who dies goes) and whether there was a link between them.
  •          A thought about the Valar’s methods of transportation also occurs; do any/all of them have the ability to walk through the Music to end up in another physical space?
  •          The Girdle of Melian also occurs under this umbrella; it can be crossed, or not, as its ruler wills – how does this work, are there rules, what does it look like at all?

WB: Nature spirits and sentient nature

  •          We have River-daughters and Ents, so there must be some sentient nature around; culture and pov, but also exploring how such beings came to be/continue to be.
  •          Nan Elmoth?

WB: Edain women

  •          Roles and responsibilities, gender roles, power

WB: Women Warriors

  •          Elven, Edian, Dwarven; lady warriors of all kinds and their roles and functions in their societies

3.       The Hobbit

Tauriel, Thranduil, Thorin Oakenshield, Thráin II's Wife, Original Character(s), Any or No Characters

WB: Women Warriors

  •          Roles, reactions from family/society, history

WB: Eastern/Southern Dwarf Cultural Differences // WB: Blue Mountains Culture

  •          These seem somewhat interrelated. We see more of the BM influences in the films, of course, but… Take me beyond the scope of the films here and show me the wider Dwarf World 😊

WB: Dwarf Primogeniture

  •          How is the King’s Heir chosen? We see in both book and film that Fíli is Thorin’s Heir unquestioned, despite him being young enough to have children of his own (if he survived the Quest, of course, but also beforehand) Why is he childless, what do the Folk of Durin think of the rule being passed to a sisterson? Feel free to explore gender roles and traditions under this header, too 😊

4.       The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien

Thrór's Spouse, Thráin II, Thorin Oakenshield, Fíli, Dís, Dáin Ironfoot, Dáin Ironfoot's Wife,

WB: Trading Across the World

  •          Who trades with whom, and what goods?

WB: Life in Exile

  •          Diplomacy, war, building a new settlement, the wider consequences of the influx of Exiles; economic waves across the world re: trade routes, flow of goods, etc.
  •          How do they manage – and how do they ensure that the culture(and cultural memories) of Erebor is not lost for the next generations?

WB: Gender roles in dwarf culture // WB: Dwarven Primogeniture and Inheritance

  •          How is the King’s Heir chosen? We see in both book and film that Fíli is Thorin’s Heir unquestioned, despite him being young enough to have children of his own (if he survived the Quest, of course, but also beforehand) Why is he childless, what do the Folk of Durin think of the rule being passed to a sisterson? Who rules the Iron Hills once Dáin is King of Erebor?
  •          We hear very little of the spouses of these kings, who were they and what duties fall under the purview of a King’s Consort?

  • Exploring the outer edges of the map

For the chosen fandoms/pairings, I've tried to keep to broad strokes, but feel free to mix up new flavours for me to savour! :D

The Hobbit - Book
  • Dwalin/Thorin Oakenshield (The Hobbit - Tolkien)
One of my darlings. Give me loyalty, behind-the-scenes, Dwarf culture/worldbuilding/history
  • Dwalin/Nori (The Hobbit - Tolkien)
He's a guard, he's a thief - how do they work together? Another fave, I love the cheekiness of it, the possibility for play and seriousness in equal measures.
  • Dís/Dís's Spouse (The Hobbit - Tolkien)
Recently I've come to the realisation that Dís' spouse being genderfluid/nb/transfem is A+, so if you'd like to explore that idea with me, I'd adore it greatly :D
  • Original Raven Character & Original Dwarf Character (The Hobbit - Tolkien)
The Ravens and Durin's Folk go way back - show me Before the Fall caretaking, first meetings, or post-reclamation rebuilding of an old alliance!

The Hobbit - Movies
  • Tauriel/Original Female Character
Personally, I ship her with a co-guard, or with the harp-lady from Rivendell, but I'm honestly happy for there being just a bit more femslash in the world! Give me Tauriel being a competent warrior, wooing her ladylove, or otherwise being her badass self!
  • Meludir/Original Mirkwood Elf
  • Meludir/Original Mirkwood Elf/Original Mirkwood Elf
I like Meludir and he needs more love - or lover(s)? Go wild with Mirkwood worldbuilding and such here :D
Silmarillion

  • Ecthelion of the Fountain/Glorfindel
Gondolin the Hidden City... I want to know more! (Bonus points for smooching)
  • Finrod & Haleth
How did they get to a point where they'd spend someone else's party debating mortality and bickering like old friends? I prefer this to be non-shippy.
  • Ilmarë/Thuringwethil
Two very different Ladies of Night - or are they? What brings them together, tears them apart - how do they live beyond canon?
  • Celebrimbor & Celegorm & Curufin
Celegorm and Curufin are arguably the greatest influences in Celebrimbor's life - what is their relationship like as he grows (Please do not give me boring Curufin was a Terrible Dad trope)? Pre- or post-Nargothrond as you prefer, or even Aman-settings would be lovely.
  • Meássë/Thuringwethil
Two Evil Lesbians - I love. Meássë is such a blank slate, so fill out the map here - feel free to make it a post-Ilmarë break-up, too if it suits.
  • Alatar/Pallando
Why does Gandalf claim not to remember their names? Why does Saruman not count them at all (are they dead? by his hand?) - in short, Where Are The Blues? (now it almost sounds like a murder mystery)
  • Celebrimbor | Telperinquar & Orodreth | Artaresto
These boys both need A Friend, and luckily they've got each other...
  • Haleth of the Haladin/Original Female Character
Butch middle-aged Haleth is My Jam. Sho her a bit of love, loyalty, and longing, and I'm all over that.
  • Gwindor/Finduilas (Silmarillion)
They Deserved Better

Lord of the Rings - book

  • Éomer Éadig/Lothíriel
She might be nothing more than a name and lineage in canon, but that's what's so great about Lothíriel - she can be any flavour of OC. Give me good Queen, pre-war Princess, anything inbetween - tell me how she met Éomer, how they loved, lived, laughed?
  • Original Shieldmaiden of Rohan/Original Shieldmaiden of Rohan
Bad-ass lesbian warriors are win.
  • Boromir (Son of Denethor II)/Théodred
They just make sense to me; so similar, yet separate - how do they meet and fall in love, what consequences do they face, etc. etc. World-building galore.
  • Éowyn/Faramir
Good Farawyn content = We Need More.
  • Dwalin & Thorin's Company
Post-Ring War, Dwalin and co bury the King they got instead of the King they had once wanted...
Break me with feels for this.
  • Éomund/Théodwyn & Éomer & Éowyn
Family scenes before it shattered!

Hope you found something of interest in this, I can't wait to see what you come up with!

xoxo, Raiy

Hello dear writer/artist!

There is a cornucopia of choice this year for you! (I literally had a spreadsheet with 42 possible prompts from the tag set, yikes)

If you want to speak to me (I think I turned anon comments on here on) I can also be found on tumblr @ joyfullynervouscreator.tumblr.com

To get them out of the way, I’d be appreciative if you avoid the following DNWs:

·         Character bashing. This is my biggie; the complexity of some of these characters is what draws me to them. (I'm A-OK with one character criticising another's actions, or characters arguing or disliking one another, but please no shoehorning of personal dislikes.

·         Perfect Ainur. Well-intentioned but fallible is fine, but I'm not on board with “they can do no wrong."

·         Crack fic

·         2nd person narrator

·         MPREG

·         Scat/waterworks/emetophilia

·         A/B/O

·         24/7 D/S

·         Incest(parent/child AND sibling/sibling)

·         Some ships: Celebrimbor/Annatar, Legolas/Gimli(romantic only - platonic bros is fine)

General Likes

Fic:

·         Character complexity and conflicting motivations

·         Unusual perspectives, original characters (especially female characters) and textual ghosts

·         Unreliable narrators and quirky narrative structures – for example, epistolary, fragmented narratives, stories told through found documents, framing devices, stories told out of chronological order

·         Philosophical musings

·         Exploring the outer edges of the map

Art:

I am not at all artistic, so honestly, I'm in no position to give steers here, but these are just a few things I get giddy over:

·         Clothing, jewellery and hair, especially close ups of tiny details like stitching, beading, braiding etc.

·         Similarly, intricate detailing on weaponry and armour will make me drool

·         Depictions of the natural world – raindrops beading on leaves, moonlight through a forest canopy, ripples on the surface of a lake...

·         Facial expressions conveying more than one emotion at once

·         Unusual perspectives – through a window, over a gate, down a tunnel, from a distance...

·         Anything that plays with colour, light, shadow, space and movement

Either:

·         Scenery porn

·         Weather and seasons

·         Dragons! (I adore dragons.)

·         Castles, fortresses and palaces

·         Worldbuilding details – I love acknowledgements of the more mundane/everyday aspects of life in Middle-earth; think trade routes, balancing the books, textile production, agriculture, infrastructure, etc.. You don't have to focus the piece around this (unless you want to!), but little nods are greatly appreciated.

·         Objects and places with special significance – a “sense of history”

·         Pubs and inns; depictions of bonding over a long drinking session

·         Food, drink and celebration – I'm a sucker for depictions of feasts and festivals, but also of curling up with a hot drink.

Ship Likes

It's probably worth saying here that I'm open to unrequested ships unless I've specifically stated otherwise elsewhere in the letter – feel free to reach out via the mod if you're not sure. Equally happy with het, slash, fem, ace, poly...if you see it and love it, so will I.

Many of these could equally apply to friendships or romantic relationships, so I haven't specifically labelled them all.

IS Requests specifics:

Silm

Characters: Anairë & Eärwen & Nerdanel & Findis & Lalwen, Anairë & Eärwen , Elemmírë & Amarië, Anairë/Fingolfin, Amarië/Finrod, Fëanor/Nerdanel & their children

Tags: Cultural differences among elves, Elves of Middle Earth arriving in Aman, Forgiveness and Redemption, Holidays or Festivals

The ones who were left behind greeting those who return or maybe get reborn? This one has a strong element of female friendship to it in my head, but also a chance to explore the rebuilding of severed relationships if that’s more your thing 😊

Characters: Aredhel & Lalwen, Aredhel & Maglor , Curufin/Curufin's wife, Elemmírë/Lalwen, Feanor & Fingolfin & Finarfin & Findis & Lalwen, Fëanor/Nerdanel & their children, Finarfin/Eärwen, Turgon & Finrod & Curufin, Findis & Lalwen, Fingon/Maedhros, Finwë/Míriel & Fëanor, Galadriel & Aredhel & Amras & Amrod, House of Finarfin, Maedhros & Original Character, Mahtan Aulendur, Worldbuiding: Culture and Customs Among the Vanyar

Tags: Art & Literature in First Age, Cultural differences among elves, First Age Aman, Hats of Aman, Festivals in the Years of the Trees, Holidays or Festivals, Telerin Culture and Customs, Trends and fashion, Weaving & needlework

This is specifically the art request - give me a bit of colour and joy in Aman - perhaps during a festival? show me what those peaceful days looked like :D Bonus points for friendship among cousins, pranking Fëanor, and adorable elf children!

Characters: Aulë, Yavanna Kementári, Aule & Original Dwarf Character(s), Aulë | Mahal/Yavanna Kementári, Maedhros & Azaghâl, Original First Age Dwarf Character

Tags: Dwarvish Music, Dwarvish Mythology and Religion, Groups learning/studying each others' languages, Inside Belegost, multilingualism, Reception of Same-Sex Relationships, working in forges, Dwarves and gender

Dwarf culture of the First Age or even earlier – I am starved for it! The Union of Maedhros with the help of Azaghal would also be an interesting take – or maybe Curufin’s relationship with the Dwarves, or even later on Celebrimbor in Khazad-dûm. Celebrimbor with fem!Narvi is one of my favourite ships, but you don’t have to let that sway you 😉

The gender tag was from the hobbit movie set, and may be ignored if you don’t fancy it.

LotR

Characters: Elladan & Elrohir, Elladan & Elrohir & Dúnedain, Elladan & Elrohir & Elrond, Elladan & Elrohir & Glorfindel, Elrohir & Elladan & Arwen, Elrond & Celebrían, Elrond & Gil-galad, Elrond & Maglor, Elrond/Celebrían, Glorfindel & Witch-King of Angmar, Lindir,

Tags: Romance – Relationship, Celebrían with foresight, Effects of the Three Elven-rings, Elrond being an awesome warrior, The Choice of the Peredhel, The War Against Angmar, we're in need of a healer, Life in Rivendell

The War against Angmar is one of my blind spots, so now I’m requesting it! Anything goes, really, exploring motivations, consequences, ups and downs, life during war, etc. etc.

The Hobbit

Tauriel & Thranduil, Tauriel/Original Female Avarin Character(s), Tauriel/Original Female Mirkwood Guard(s), Tauriel (Jackson Movies), Thranduil, Thranduil's Wife, Legolas, Galion

Daily life of the Mirkwood Guard, The Greenwood becoming Mirkwood, The magic of the Elves of Mirkwood, Inside Thranduil's palace

Book or movie canon as you please – I personally work within a fusion of the two, but pick whichever suits you and tell me something about the elusive Elves of Mirkwood!

Dear creator,

Hi!  Thank you for creating a gift for me; I'm very happy we're a match, and I can't wait to see/read about your version of the character(s) we have in common.

I am very easy to please in terms of content, rating and style. Portraits, comics, mood boards, fluff, gen, angst, smut, vignettes, darkfic, horror – it's all good.

I've chosen these characters because I love them, am fascinated by them, want to see more of them, or some combination of the three. I've written brief prompts for most characters and groups on my list, but I'm very open to your ideas and I'm always excited to see other people's interpretations. Don't feel bound to my thoughts; those are only intended as starting points, and as long as my DNWs are avoided, I will love whatever you come up with.

If you want to speak to me (I think I turned anon comments on here on) I can also be found on tumblr @ joyfullynervouscreator.tumblr.com

DNWs
  • Character bashing. This is my biggie; the complexity of some of these characters is what draws me to them. (I'm A-OK with one character criticising another's actions, or characters arguing or disliking one another, but please no shoehorning of personal dislikes.
  • Perfect Ainur. Well-intentioned but fallible is fine, but I'm not on board with “they can do no wrong."
  • Crack fic
  • 2nd person narrator
  • MPREG
  • Scat/waterworks/emetophilia
  • A/B/O
  • 24/7 D/S
  • Incest(parent/child AND sibling/sibling)
  • Some ships: Celebrimbor/Annatar, Legolas/Gimli(romantic only - platonic bros is fine)

General Likes

Fic:

  • Character complexity and conflicting motivations
  • Unusual perspectives, original characters (especially female characters) and textual ghosts
  • Unreliable narrators and quirky narrative structures – for example, epistolary, fragmented narratives, stories told through found documents, framing devices, stories told out of chronological order
  • Philosophical musings
  • Anything to do with languages, linguistics and alphabets
  • Exploring the outer edges of the map

Art:

I am not at all artistic; I can't draw, sculpt, paint, sew or even take nice photographs, so honestly, I'm in no position to give steers here, but these are just a few things I get giddy over:

  • Clothing, jewellery and hair, especially close ups of tiny details like stitching, beading, braiding etc.
  • Similarly, intricate detailing on weaponry and armour will make me drool
  • Depictions of the natural world – raindrops beading on leaves, moonlight through a forest canopy, ripples on the surface of a lake...
  • Facial expressions conveying more than one emotion at once
  • Unusual perspectives – through a window, over a gate, down a tunnel, from a distance...
  • Anything that plays with colour, light, shadow, space and movement

Either:

  • Scenery porn
  • Weather and seasons
  • Dragons! (I adore dragons.)
  • Castles, fortresses and palaces
  • Worldbuilding details – I love acknowledgements of the more mundane/everyday aspects of life in Middle-earth; think trade routes, balancing the books, textile production, agriculture, infrastructure, etc.. You don't have to focus the piece around this (unless you want to!), but little nods are greatly appreciated.
  • Objects and places with special significance – a “sense of history”
  • Pubs and inns; depictions of bonding over a long drinking session
  • Food, drink and celebration – I'm a sucker for depictions of feasts and festivals, but also of curling up with a hot drink (I'm British. Tea is nectar.)
  • Games, contests and competitions (particularly if something goes awry)
  • Music and musical instruments
  • Battle scenes and/or aftermath
  • Physical imperfections
  • Found families/families of choice
  • AU, especially canon divergence and/or “fix it”
  • Myth, folklore and fairytale
  • Anything Anglo-Saxon influenced or inspired
  • The supernatural and uncanny – ghosts, magic, telepathy...
  • Shapeshifting
  • Fusions of science and magic

  • Tempestuous, complex or unhealthy relationships (see section on darker stuff); passionate encounters between two or more individuals who would be terrible together long term, but can't resist each other in the here and now
  • First times
  • Quiet moments
  • Depictions of happy, long term relationships/growing old together/very old friends looking back on their shared history

Ships
  • Éomer/Lothíriel: How did they meet/get married, culture clash, etc
  • Thranduil/Wife: I tend to hc her as a redhaired fiery silvan with a gift for healing. Would love stories of the Sindar settingling in Greenwood and becoming the rulers of the place - how do they manage the politics or their relationship etc?
  • Théodred/Boromir: Two boys who become men, destined to be the rulers of their respective countries. How do they fall in love/keep going when they're apart?
  • Elladan/Lindir: The rogue and the musician - class differences among elves, falling for someone so opposite yourself, gaining common ground, daily life in Imladris - I want all of it
  • Dwalin/Thorin Oakenshield: My OTP, I love them in all versions, including AUs
  • Balin/fem!Dori: A softer ship, give me long conversations and mutual support, h/c after the BotFA etc. Dori can be transmale, or simply hiding her gender as you please.
  • Tauriel/OFC: The OFC is Lírien, the harp-girl from Imladris in the Hobbit films. I love competent Tauriel - perhaps snapshots of her earlier life in Mirkwood - as much as I love established relationship things with these two. If you include Legolas or Thranduil in such a thing, please no romance with either of them, platonic friendship all the way.
  • Arien/Gothmog(balrog): The Ex you can't hide from...unless you go sleep under a mountain for a few ages? Or the best friend whose fall from their destined path broke your heart? Who knows? Explore inter-ainu relationships and the meaning of lives lived in the Music of Arda and I'll love you forever.
  • Uinen/Ossë: This ship that sails forever. Another chance to explore the mind and world of an ainu of the Music.
  • Celebrimbor/fem!Narví: another OTP - how does their relationship affect the relationships of their two countries and peoples? Culture clash/exploration galore.

Hello Void, it's Raiy,

So, tonight the Art Previews that I've been compiling for the past week goes out to all the writers who have signed up, and I am at once excited and slightly anxious on behalf of all our artists... hopefully we'll get some good matches!

In other, somewhat related news, I still can't choose between my four shortlisted options for my own prompt, gah!
raiyana: (Default)
I must now wonder if I want my thoughts to be here... oh well.

Hello void, this is Raiy.

Today, I am almost done creating the back-end for the TRSB18 event (I do hope it'll be a success - I'm not sure how many artists will be interested yet) and the Tumblr site is up and running.
This means I have no excuse to avoid the frustration of editing business proposals filled with horribly jumbled up English, gah! (Some people should not be allowed to possess a keyboard, I swear. I should be getting hazard pay in case my brain melts.)

In less frustrating news, I've started a new chapter of Leafling based on a piece of art that crossed my dash (I never can decide if I love or hate people who repost art off those Japanese/Chinese/other Asian sites because on one hand: "Yay! Great art!" ... and on the other "I have no idea if I'm crediting the right person but I can't be bothered learning Mandarin characters to find out")

At least tiny Legolas never fails to be adorable, so there's a silver lining in all things :D
